It was announced yesterday that a daughter may give birth to her half sibling if she were to use her mother's frozen eggs.
Seven year old Flavie Boivin, suffers from a condition called "Turner's Syndrome"- this means that some of her genes are missing. Flavie has been exposed to both of the symptoms and this means that she has a learning and egg growth impairment.
The worried 35 year old french mother, Melanie Boivin, decided that for the best of her daughter's, Flavie, future, she would have her eggs frozen, and then later in life, if Flavie were to use them, she would potentialy give birth to her half sibling.
The eggs were collected at the McGill Reproductive centre. Royal Victoria Hospital, and a total of 21 eggs were collected, and frozen in Liquid Nitrogen.
Mrs Boivin said that her "family had been highley supportive."
