McManaman joins directors of Birmingham
Former Liverpool winger Steve McManaman returns to the beautfil game as co-director of Premiership team Birmingham. After long speculation the rumours of him returning have finally been found to have substance.
Today the former player announced he will be rejoining english football as a director of the team. The 35 year old showed early interest in the club and earlier today he was appointed to the board of a Chinese company called Carson Yeung, which shared an interest in the club.
Original owners of Birmingham: David and Ralf Gold, David Sullivan, Karren Brandy and Roger Bannister have all sold their shares for around 16 million pounds in the club, owned by the Hong Kong buisness, of which McManaman now ownes 29.9%.
After McManaman's great career in football including winning the Champions League with Spanish club Real Madrid and 29 caps for England, this move represents a new direction in his life as he finally returns to the Premiership after retiring from Manchester City at the end of the 2005 season.
