Microsoft and Nokia, taking a bite out of Apple's music download market?
Microsoft and Nokia threaten to take over Apple's control in the digital music market after recent updates in their technology.
Yesterday America finally got its hands on Microsoft's answer to the iPod, a device named 'Zune' due to be released in Britain after Christmas, and with Nokia releasing a music download website tomorrow Apple is now in a battle to hold its throne in the digital music world.
The new music product 'Zune' by Microsoft is like a clumsy version of the iPod, however it has its bonuses. Unlike the iPod this device can access the FM radio, and it also allows users to beam songs from one Zune to another. Having these added features and still costing the same as the lastest iPod sets Microsoft and the Zune up for terrific sales, especially with Christmas around the corner. Some believe Microsoft to be the biggest threat to Apples market, but others have said the Zune is too little too late.
Jenny Underhill said 'I believe Nokia to be the greatest threat to Apples industry.' It is unlikely that any company will be able to overtake Apple in the digital music industry as such, the real threat apple face is from cellular networks. Nokia are leading in this industry and with the release of their new music download website are likely to stay ahead.
