Van Nistelrooy's future is in doubt
Ruud van Nistelrooy admits he has no idea why his career at United has declined
Ruud van Nistelrooy admitted yesterday that he is at a loss as to why his Man United career has so suddenly gone into decline.
The United forward, renowned for his ability to score goals, stormed away from United's final game against Charlton Athletic upon discovering that he had been axed from the team.
Van Nistelrooy announced, "People in Manchester do not understand it, neither do I. I love Manchester United. That is why I don't really understand it."
He also said, "What has happened has happened. The World Cup is approaching and I need to try to forget about it and move on."
The striker still has two years left on his contract at United and claims that if things are going the way they are now, he will remain at Old Trafford.
However he reported: "I am not naive and the fact that I was not involved in the Charlton game, nor Roy Keane's testimonial, is hardly a good sign. But nothing will happen until after the World Cup."
Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Newcastle have all been linked with a player who has scored 47 goals in the Champions League. Whether he remains in Manchester or not is currently undecided.
