New art slides into Tate Modern
It's playtime at the Tate Modern with five stainless steel slides which have filled the Turbine halls
Many a strange piece of artwork has appeared in the Tate Modern but its newest resident of five giant slides has become one of the most innovative and unlikely to the gallery yet.
The longest of the five slides, runs for a total distance of 180ft from the 5th floor of the former power station.  This artwork was created by Carsten Holler, a German artist unknown to many British residents.  The artwork opens today, October 10th.
Holler believes that the slides will reduce mental health and depression as sliding down the chutes should bring I smile to many people's faces.
