Tate Modern becomes a playground
Tate Modern turbine hall takes on a new role as a playground, in the name of art.
The new exhibition at Tate features five stainless steel slides. This art work is created by Carsten Holler, a German artist who is largely unknown in Britain. The exhibition opens on the 10th October and will allow spectators to participate by sliding down each chute. Holler believes these slides will help to reduce depression, mental health and risk of heart attack. The plan is to relieve symptoms for these illnesses as sliding down spiral slopes makes you laugh and smile. A universal cure for illness. The five slides range in size, the biggest of which reaches from the top floor of the gallery to the bottom, for the most daring of visitors.
