Michael Owen on the mend
The Newcastle striker Michael Owen has been told to throw away his crutches.
Michael Owen, 26 has recieved a psychological boost in his fight for fitness. He is currently recovering from two operations to repair his injured knee caused in the opening minute of England's world cup match against Sweden in June.
Michael will be attending everyday training at Newcastle. He is now walking unaided although he is likely to miss most if not all of the season. It is no wonder Michael's despiration to return to the Newcastle squad after only managing eleven appearances for the club which payed 17 million to bring him back the Premiership in August last year.
Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder declared "Michael is another step closer to fitness and is in good spirits." "Michael is very sensible and will not rush into anything he will be patient."
