Zacarias Moussaoui involved in the September 11th attacks, was sentenced on Thursday to life in prison in the US.
Zacarias Moussaoui was sentenced on Thursday to life in prison in the US. The convicted terroist declared "God save Osama bin Laden - you will never get him."
Judge Leonie Brinkema who sentenced Moussaoui to life in prison and the inrepentant Moussaoui capped the two months trial with an intense exchange that will mark the defendant's last public words before his incarceration in a maximum security prison, possible in Colorado.
A day earlier, a jury rejected the governments case to have Moussaoui executed, decided instead he should spend life in prison with no chance of parole. Not all jurors were convinced that Moussaoui, was in jail on immigration charges in September 11th, had a significant part in the attacks, despite his boasts that he did.
Brinkema firmly refused to be interrupted by the 37-year old defendant as she dispute his declaration from a day earlier " America, you lost... I won".
Judge Brinkema said " Mr Moussaoui, when this proceeding is over, everyone else in this room will leave to see the sun...hear the birds...and they can associate with whomever they want"
Lisa Dolan, was one of three family member of victims, were allowed to speak at the brief sentencing hearing. She told Mr Moussaoui " There is still one final judgement day".
Moussaoui sat in his chair starring at Dolan and the other family witnesses betraying no emotion as they spoke.
