Plan To Teach Pupils 'British Values'
Schools in England should teach "core British values" alongside cultural diversity, a report will say.
Today a report has been published that tells us that schools should teach pupils "core British values".Schools should teach British Values because Sir Keith Adjegbo, the author of the report who is a former headteacher, claims pupils ought to know more about the people around them and what brings them together.
Alan Johnson, the Secretary of Education, says schools should "play a part in creating community cohesion".
He also claims that citizenship lessons talking about life and values in the U.K will be compulsory for pupils in secondary schools up to the age of sixteen.
Sir Keith found that citizenship should be focusing on assisting white pupils as well as those from other ethnic backgrounds.
