Schools Out... no its not!
One Pupil in five plays truant. This has become a growing concern as this leads to major problems; problems which are not needed.
Truanting is nothing knew, infact if your grey haired and wrinkled, nine out of ten chance you would know someone who has truanted or done it yourslef when in school. However the growing concern here now is the amount of students truanting from school has reached dizzy, diabolicle, delirious heights and really needs to be clamped down.
I asked a sudent who had truanted before to give a breif explanation why he did it, V.S Dhillon replied " There are many reasons i bunked ( truanted) school one is i was bored and tired as i had slept late and had various problems at home". V.S Dhillion may had truanted but not without reason, as he mentioned of his personal problems at home. I feel it is up to the school to recognise and address this and work with V.S to make him more puctual.
However it is not the schools sole responsibility as it should be the parent/guardians getting more invlovled. Moreover i am certain many youngsters are in the same position.
Does your child truant, or do u know anyone that does? Next time you are in contact with them why not ask them the reasons they truant.
It would be an unfair comment to say the goverment are not playing there part, because they hav spent £1bn on initiatives to tackle the problems, "Although more students played truant, they did so for shorter periods".
So what is the awnser to stop children playing truant? The awnser is with us.
