Eating crisps = drinking oil!!!
Eating one packet of crisps a day is the equivalent of drinking five litres of oil a year, says BHF.
Eating one packet of crisps a day is the equivalent of drinking almost five litres of oil a year, says the British Heart Foundation.
One in five of 8-15 year olds have addmitted to eating at least two packets of crisps a day, which is equal to drinking nine litres of oil a year. Around 2,500 schools in the UK will be sent teaching resources in the shape of oversized burger boxes to make children more aware of the damage that these foods can do to thier hearts.
Professor Peter Weissberg, the BHF medical director, has said: " The BHF believes having
a daily dose of such a high fat, nutritionally poor product is a threat to childrens long term health."
The BHF has launched a campaign called Food4Thought to expose the dangers of the high amounts of salts, sugars and fats in every day snacks that are favoured amongst children. This campaign uses shock tactics to inform the public of the risks of eating these common snacks. One advert will contain a young girl drinking from a bottle of cooking oil, this includes the caption " What goes into crisps, goes into you."
