Iraq torture situation out of hand
The torturing in Iraq is worse then when Saddam was in rule
The Iraqi torture situation is now getting out of hand and now is most probably worse then under the "tyrannical" reign of Saddam Husein according to UN human rights investigators. The US mililtary says that on the ground the security situation has become more violent. The UN produced an overnight report which says that Iraq is now deadlier then ever, in the last two months 6599 violent deaths taking place. Recently, 38 corpses were found slumped in Baghdad allegidly dumped there by death squads who roam the streets.
A UN investigator said "the situation is extremly dangerous but its not just torture by the government". The investigator also produced reports of inhumane treatment of prisoners in American run detention centers. However it was also noted that the conditions of the detention centers have improved since an international row over the maltreatment of prisioners by US forces.
Bodies on Baghdad morgue have signs of torture all over them including acid burns and wounds caused by power drills and nails. The UN human rights council says "the situation as far as torture is concerned in Iraq is now completly out of hand". US commanders predict that in the next week with the coming of the holy month of Ramadan more violence will come.
