Get the wellies out!
Soggy weather reports fail to dampen Glastonbury festival-goers spirits!
For several years now, rain seems to be as much part of the Glastonbury Music Festival as the eclectic mix of bands and beans on toast! Yet, even after the ominous weather reports for this years festival, it is predicted that almost 200,000 music lovers will be attending what is now known as the biggest annual music festival in the United Kingdom. So eager were these masses of music fans, that tickets were all snapped up within a record breaking 90 minutes of being put on sale, so a spot of rain is obviously not going to be a bother!
These worrying weather reports warn of large amounts of "surface water" to build up over the week, causing the inevitable and characteristic "mudbath" that this fesatival is so famous for. Indeed, on the first day of the festival, Thursday 21st June, the forecast warned of being "very wet and muddy". However, after serious floodings at the last festival in 2005, festival boss and organiser Micheal Eavis has spent over £750,000 on flood protection and prevention measures, ensuring safety for all campers. It is also rumoured that as an extra precaution, and no doubt a blessing to all you forgetful Glasto-enthusiasts, that wellies will be sold on the door for a "mere" £80, ensuring that no one has an excuse to turn up without the embarrasing and somewhat iconic footwear of Glastonbury.
But despite the rain and the mud and the constant worry of flood, Glastonbury 2007 is said to be "bigger and better than ever"- completely worth the four days of grime, port-a-loos and general havok. These reporters definately wish they were there!
