Dissections will soon be off the school curriculum due to concerns of animal welfare. Emphasis on todays veiw of the ecology and enviroment have also contributed to the change.
however there are mixed views on this. A lot of studants and teachers think that dissection brings a better knowlage than text books, as it is more lifelike and you can see it for yourself.
Patricha Lord thinks that dissection allows the students to appriceate the delicatness and complexity of a living thing.
Bunny Jaskot, president of the teachers biology association, says that she wouldn't want a surgeon to operate on her that had never cut up a living thing.
There are mixed views on this matter and there has not been a fixed date set for when this change will be made.
