American Churches Rock Out To U2
Congregations in American churches sing along to U2
Recently in churches, in fifteen states across America, congregations have turned to singing U2 songs for hymns. They find that some of U2's best selling singles help people to properly understand prayers and hymns.
It first took place in York Harbour in 2005 and has now spread across 7 countries and 15 states.
This is practised by 'U2charists' singing and dancing in the aisles, during services.
Not only is it enjoyed by fans of the Irish rockers, but people that don't know the words can also join in as they are projected on the big screen at the end of the church.
Youngsters can also enjoy this musical new craze, Bridgette Roberts, 15, says, "Usually at church you love Jesus and everything, but this way you can express how you feel."
