Waltzing Back To A Healthy Heart
Waltzing is better for the heart than any other form of physical exercise.
According to an Italian cardiologist research shows that waltzing, a type of dance, will increase the amount of oxygen absorbed by the blood. Dr. Romualdo Belardinelli studied 89 male pateints with heart problems, half of which were set an exercise programme of standard gym routines, which included a certain amount of waltzing per week. Surprisingly, the waltz showed by far the most improvement to their condition. The dance is performed in a duo and is an elegant, poised dance.
The doctor told a meeting of American heart foundation in Florida, that it is not so much the movement, but is the general appeal of the dance, which people get hooked to and so continued doing it by themselves.
Patients with heart problems find it hard to keep up with a programme of exercise. Normally after a month half of the patients will have given up. That is why the waltz is good to capture their interest and enthusiasm.
