England Slump To Seventh In World Rankings
England slump to seventh in world rankings as pressure mounts on Robinson.
The latest Rugby Union world rankings show that England have dropped from 5th to 7th following their seven straight defeats, including Saturday's shock defeat at Twickenham to Argentina.
The South American side, currently sixth in the rankings, beat England 25points to 18. This comes only a week after their slaughtering at the hands of the best team in the world, the New Zealand All Blacks, 41-20.
With only 10 months left untill the World Cup in France, the pressure is building on Head Coach Andy Robinson to deliver performances and results. Many former England stars, including Austin Healey and Jeremy Guscott, have expressed their opinions and believe that Robinson should step down as Head Coach.
The decline in the current ranking does not give the impression that England will retain the 'William Webb Ellis' trophy and early indications show that New Zealand are the favourites to win. This claim is boosted by the fact that the All Blacks beat world number 2, and hosts for the next year's World Cup, France, convincingly 47-3.
