Teenage parties are costing parents more than a few bottles of booze these days, causing £136 million worth of domestic damage over the last five years.  Nearly half of teenage parties thrown at home result in damage, with an average repair cost of £132.  One in three carpets suffer damage from food and wine, and gatecrashers grace one in seven parties.  A shocking 5% of parents say they have had possessions stolen. 

As the exams come to an end and the stress needs to be lifted, teenagers look to the good old tradition of post exam partying to let off steam. But instead, it seems that teenagers are digging down deep into their parents pockets to fund their extra wild bashes and relying on them to clean up their mess.  Parents should be aware of the risks when accommodating teenage get-togethers, and protect their homes by insuring them or holding parties elsewhere.
