A teacher has admitted 11 counts of sexual intercourse with a 15 year old pupil and was sentenced four years and three months imprisonment by a jury at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday.
Married mother of two, Elvira Fairhurst, 49, began showing interests in the boy by praising him, and lavishing him with attention. She soon began hugging him and offering him lifts to school, gradually developing an obsession. Fairhurst would continually call him at least five times a day, and bombard him with text messages calling him "honey-bunny" and describing him as "gorgeous". This quickly developed into a secret four month relationship, during which she touched him inappropriately, performed oral sex and had sexual intercourse in the school stock cupboard, boys lavatories, and at the public park, repetitively.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told police, "She looked at me like she wanted me, so i just did it." He later went on to describe himself as feeling used.
John McDermot, QC commented that Fairhurst "will never be able to explain to anyone just why she embarked on a madcap course of sexual activity."
