Teenage Parties Leave Dents in Homes - And their Parents Wallets
Teenage parties over the last five years have caused £136 million of home repairs in the Summer aftermath of exam fever.
Millions of pounds of home repairs have been inflicted due to teenage parties. Over the last five years Zurich Insurance have suggested that parents should extend insurance policies to save them hundreds of pounds in damages from end of exam parties. Summer nights, end of school and college parties also have played a part in the destruction of parents home's and bank accounts.
Out of 45% of the wild parties thrown, a whopping 43% have ended in domestic damage, resulting in the average repair bill of £132. The parent's offspring have lovingly lavished damages on carpets, gardens, and soft furnishings. 35% of carpets have endured numerous food and drink stains, making them the biggest casualty of the whole night. One in twenty gardens are also affected, and one in twenty parents come home to find some of their beloved possessions stolen. This is only the economical side of the morning after the night before.
12% have to suffer the continuous complaints of the neighbours about noise, and 31% of parents find themselves cleaning up the trail of destruction. However, teenagers are not the only culprits. 60% of parents in the last five years have held their own parties costing a third of them at least £100. These results came from 1,133 parents of children aged between 14-22 from Tickbox.net.
