The Chancellor Gordon Brown has expressed his pride of the way that Britain is preparing for the 2012 Olympics.
The Chancellor Gordon Brown has expressed his pride of the way that Britain is preparing for the 2012 Olympics. Speculation has arisen recently about whether the Olympics are worth this much investment from the UK government.
Mr Brown defended the costs while announcing the host cities for the UK school games, stating that he was proud of the way the Olympics were being organised by Britain.
The UK school Olympics are designed to replicate the Olympics, but for the young. Mr Brown has announced that Sheffield will be hosting the school Olympics in 2011, preceded by Tyne and Wear in 2010, Wales in 2009 and the West of England in 2008.
The event gives the chance for more than 3,000 young 16-18 years olds to become officials, such as judges and umpires.
