On the 7th of march 2007 flight GA200 with a total of 133 passengers and 7 crew crashed after a scheduled flight from Jakarta. Out of the 140 on board it is believed that at least 20 lives have been lost, many of the dead have been difficult to identify due to the substancial burns recieved from the crash. many who died did not die in the crash but from their inability to escape from the flames.
115 passengers escaped the flames and made their way away from the wreckage across the field. Before the crash passengers felt the violent shake of the plane as it attempted to land, but it flew off ploughing through a fence and imbedding itself into the field next to it. Some of the passegners in the crash were Australian diplomats, officials and journalists who were all accompanying the foreign minister who was not on board at the time. Indonesia has not had the best of times these past months with many transport accidents happening, such as the disapearing plane in January, which had 102+crew on board, and the ferry sinking at the end of last year.
