The 'Death Knell' rang out yesterday as MP's dramatically voted for a 100%, fully elected House Of Lords, thus possibly evicting the remaining 92 hereditary Peers that survived Tony Blairs first reform 'rampage'.

A massive majority of 113 votes voted in favour of the radical reforms which, if successful, could set the biggest wave of change in British political history to date. The shock vote provoked claims that oppenents of the idea thought up the vote with the intention of quashing any possible thought of Lords reform within the House Of Commons.

Don't believe everything the MP's say, Lords peers work tirelesslessly and with greater effort to change the Commons mishaps and tighten up the legislative procedure. The House Of Lords is an excellent tool of scrutiny which has defeated the House Of Commons over many subjects, not through 'bloody mindedness' but through principle and common sense (which are virtues that some may say the current Government lack)

It was interesting to note that Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and David Cameron all voted in favour of a partially elected House of Lords instead of a fully elected House, the thinking behind this possibly being to ''not make waves'' and sit on the fence, a classic case of ''softly softly catchy Lords'' A draft Bill on Lords reform is expected to materialize sometime later this year.
