Over 21 people killed in jetliner inferno
A state run carrier carrying 140 passengers in horrific plane crash in the Indonesian town Yogyakarta
An Indonisian state run carrier Garuda 737-400 carrying 140 passengers was involved in a horrific plane crash on wednesday 7th March. A suspected human error during a plane landing in Adi-Sucipto airport caused the plane to over shoot the runway and travel through fences finally slamming into rice fields. More than 115 of the passengers escaped through emergency exits as black smoke billowed out of the aircraft behind them, of which it took emergency services over 2 hours to extinguish.  

Over 21 people were killed, but most survivors had very little injuries and only very few were hospitalised. Among those involved in the accident were five Australians who are still missing, the effects of this being that the Australian government to offer support the Indonesian investigations. They have offered equipment and money to investigate the mis-fortunate events and find the cause of this incident, due to this not being the first Indonesian travel accident but just one of a string of airline and ferry disasters in the past year.
