When John Richard's couldn't bear the smell in his house he decided to drop his rubbish in a public bin. Little did he know that he would receive a £75 pound fine. The reason, 'mis-using' the bin by putting domestic refuse in it!
The council manged to trace it back to him, by looking through the rubbish, were they found a personal envelope with his address on it! Mr. Richards, who is 84, said, "I've been fined for putting my rubbish in a bin and that's just ludicrous. The council told me I was flytipping. But I've never thrown litter in my life. Lot's of people do what I did. My bin bags are collected fortnightly, and i only have a very small back yard."
However, in the end he paid the fine, after being warned thet if he did not pay it within a fortnight it would be doubled. Also, if he had taken it to court the costs would have been estimated at around, £2,500.
