A PLANE MYSTERY
At 10:21 Monday night a British Airways and Sri Lankan plane collided at Heathrow Airport. The planes were taxing to a runway and an investigation has been lauched in to why these two planes crashed.
The British Airways' plane was a boeing 747 travelling to Singapore which collided with a Sri Lankan Airbus A340 which was travelling to Colombo (the capital of Sri Lanka. Both planes were preparing for take-off and going towards their desingated runway when they mysteriously collided. There was minor damages caused and no one was injured.
On Tuesday morning a spokesmanfor Heathrow's operator (BAA) said "Heathrow airport can confirm that two aircrafts were involved in an incident earlier this evening on the ground and there are no reported injuries."
A spokeswoman for Sri Lankan Airlines said "It is reportec that the wing tips of the two aircrafts brushed against eachother while taxiing. All passengers have been transfered to local hotels and alternative travel arrangements have been made."
Both the fire brigrade and ambulance service were informed yet were told to stand down after as they was no injuries. An investigation was launched today and possible reasons could include poor judgement on behalf of the pilots, lack of communication between the airport traffic control or poor visbilty at the airport. Engineers are still currently inspecting the planes and they are thankful the accident did not occur in the air.
