Planes Crash at Heathrow
Two planes, one from British Airways, the other from Sri Lankan Airlines, crashed whilst on the runway. The cause of the crash is unknown.
Last night, two planes crashed at Heathrow, whilst on the runway. No-one is thought to be injured, although 20 fire crews were called. Passengers from both the British Airways and the Sri Lankan Airlines flights were led to safety in the terminal while fire crews assessed the damage.
Annasofie Flamand, a journalist on the Sri Lankan flight, said that 'The plane turned and almost hit what looked like the tail of the BA flight, losing the end of the wing. It cut through like it was butter.'
A spokesman for BA said that the passengers were offloaded safely and were given the option of having a refund or the next available flight. They also reported an internal investigation into the the cause of the accident.
A spokesman for the Fire Service said that there were no serious damge done to the planes and that there were no reports of injury.
As 64 million people use Heathrow every year, BA face growing criticism for delays, which keep 1 in 3 planes more than 15 minutes late.
