British Government boycott summit with Mugabe
The British Government will not be attending the summit of EU and African leaders, if Mugabe is allowed to attend.
The British Government have told EU and African leaders that they will not be attending if Robert Mugabe, President of Zimbabwe is allowed to attend.
The African Union, comprising of 53 countries, chaired by Ghana, wants all members to attend, including Zimbabwe. Britain does not want Zimbabwe to attend, due to the attrocities being commited, a sentiment shared by the rest of the EU.
Officals hoped that Mugabe would not attend the talks with the ex-Western Colonial Powers. However, Mugabe has said that he will be attending, despite British attitudes.
Zimbabwean Information Minister Sikhangiso Ndlovu said 'Brown has no right to lecture Mugabe about politics, as Brown did not call a general election immediately.
the previous summit of 2003 failed for the same reason.'
