Goal Nets at Tyneside Abused2
Newcastle United 1 Birmingham City 5

A poor performance from Newcastle and apologies in order.
Newcastle were left devastated last night as Birmingham ran away with a four goal lead. What incresed the humiliation was the lack of support, just 26 thousand fans appeared.
Birmingham opened fire straight away and emerged with a goal just five minutes in, scored by McSheffrey. To add to the embaressment an own goal was scored by Solano in the closing minutes of the second half. In defence of newcaste, Milner scored a blazing goal in the 56th minute to bring the score up to 2-1. but this was not much of a consolation by the end product after N'gotty's goal in the 59th minute, Larsson's goal in the 83rd and finally campbell's finisher in the 89th to round the end score up to 5-1.
This was a surprise to everyone based on the fact that newcaste were victorious at tottenham on sunday and then to lose like this at home. this defeat is their worst loss in 90 years, when they were beaten 5-0 by sheffield united in 1914. Newcastle's manager has been very apologetic about the loss, to the team they relagated back in april. Roeder was reported to have said today "I think apologies are due after such a lack of performance from everybody.
All in all, it was a poor show from newcastle and they should hope to perform better in their premiership games seeing as the cup hopes have been crushed.
