T.V phone fails according to sales
T.V phones are far less successful than expected, as the idea of watching T.V on your phone fails to impress.
The idea of watching television on you phone sounds like a great idea, not having to be at home to watch your programmes, allowing you to watch what you want, when you want, seems to be a great technological advance, but recent figures show this new way of watching you favourite programmes has not caught on, as well as was expected.
Virgin Mobile has said that fewer than 10,000 'T.V phones' have sold, which is a real let down for many phone companies. This comes at a very bad time for apple, just before they release their new i-phone, which is expected to come out in may. Their success with the i-pod meant that there will be a great expectation for the i-phone, but these figures suggest that the sales will not be as high as many thought, although all the extras on the i-phone will increase the likely-hood of huge sales for this product.
The reason for the small amount of phones being sold may be for a number of reasons, such as price, whether on contract or using a pre-pay service, where T.V phones can cost between £199 and £99, with a £25 a month contract. Another reason is a simple, but could be true, this is that people would just rather be traditional and watch their television in the comfort of their homes.
