74 Dead in Ethiopia Oilfield Massacre
A Chinese Oilfield, north of the Somali-Ethiopian border, raided by ethnic Somalis from the Ogaden Nation Liberation Front, 74 Chinese and Ethiopian workers left dead seven kidnapped.
74 were killed and 7 kidnapped in a brutal raid on a Chinese-owned Oilfield in the ealy hours of tuesday the 24th of April by the Ogaden National Liberation Front, assisted by Somali Insurgents. The group claimed responsibility for the vicious attack in a statement and also warned other oil companies would be attacked if they continued operations in the region, their reason being that the companies support the Ethiopian government.
The facility was destroyed, leaving 65 dead Ethiopian and 9 Chinese workers dead, seven chinese workers were also abducted, they are yet to be heard from. China's booming economy has led them to come under recent attacks due to operating in unstable regions in search for oil to meet their country's growing demand.
This raid by armed Somali insurgents comes after the recent attacks on the Islamic Courts, Somalia's Islamic government by Ethopian forces supported by the US.
