74 workers in a chinese run oil field were left dead in a raid led by the rebellious Ogaden National Liberation Front. The ONLF had warned the Chinese and Ethiopian government beforehand. They said the government had no right to drill an oil field in Abole, a small town in Ethiopia.
When the government did not answer this plea, the ONLF gathered approximatley 200 gunmen to attack the field. A 50 minute fire fight took place.
ONLF spokesmen in London have said the raid that took the lives of 9 Chinese and 65 Ethiopians, is just a reaction to the Ethiopian opression.
