German cannibal jailed for life

Armin Meiwes, a 44 year old computer technition from Frankfurt, had his first trial in 2001 and was sentanced to only 8 years, but the court found that to be too lenient so he was then sentacned for life. The killer and the victim met up once he had posted a request on a website for a man to be "slaughtered and consumed." Armin had the charges of murder, man slughter and disturbing the peace of the dead.
Armins lawyers claimed that the victims wishe was for Armin to kill him. The lawyers demanded that Armin be convicted of the lesser crime of "killing on demand". Armin had travelled from Berlin after his victim, 43 year old Bernd Jurgen, had replied to his Internet post. His wishes were to be stabbed and left unconsious after drinking cold medicine. The court found on Tuesday that he killed to "satisfy his sexual urges".
