German Cannibal Locked Up for Life
Cannibal Armin Meiwes, 44, is sentenced to life in prison after slaughtering Bernd Juergern Brandes, an aquaintance from the internet.

Frankfurt - Cannibal, Armin Meiwes, 44, a computer technician from Rotenburg, Germany, has been sentenced to life in prison for killing and devouring Bernd Juergen Brandes. Meiwes met Brandes on the internet after posting an add in hope for a young man "for slaughter and consumption". 
The re-trial took place yesterday in a court house in Frankfurt after a federal appeals court overturned his initial manslaughter conviction to allow persecuters to fight for a tougher sentence. At the detailed retelling of the trial in March 2001, Meiwes' lawyer insited that the defendant had acted upon his victim's demands to be stabbed to death after drinking a bottle of cold medicine to cause unconciousness. 
Meiwes is also accused of having disturbed the peace of the dead on account of him murdering, then eating his victim. The court concluded that Meiwes had slaughtered in order to please his sexual urges. Meiwes was sentenced to life in prison.
