On April 9th 2006, 44 year old Armin Meiwes was found guilty of killing and eating 43 year old Bernd Juergen Brandes. The investigation started in 2002, when a student in Austria alerted the Police to a message Meiwes had posted on the Internet seeking a man between the ages of 18 and 25, that was willling to be killed and eaten.
Meiwes testified before a German court in Frankfurt, Germany claiming that his victim wanted to be eaten and died a "beautiful death". Brandes visited Meiwes at his country home in March 2001, where the pair had consential sex, before Meiwes severed his victims penis, which both men then attemted to cook and eat. Evidence suggests that later that evening Meiwes stabbed and proceeded to kill Brandes. There after Meiwes cut his victim into pieces, putting his body parts into Meiwes refridgorater for safe keeping before later eating a selection of his victim.
The convicted Meiwes admits to the jury he still fantasizes about killing and canibalisim when he sees pictures of young attractive people. Meiwes states "I wanted to eat him, I didn't want to kill him." In early 2004 Meiwes was convicted in Kassel, however his lawyers appealed the verdict. It was not until recently that Armin Meiwes was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison.
