Owners of book covered in human skin have been traced
Police found the owners of a 300 year old human skin bound book in Leeds last month.
A man in his early twenties has been arrested due to connection with the investigation of a 'human book' The book is 300 years old and written mainly in French. The book was bound in human skin often called a macabre.
In the 18th and 19th centuries books were often made of killers skin, containing accounts of the crimes they had commited, known as a anthropodermic bibliopegy. These would have been quite common.
Police started the search for the books owner after a public appeal for information. The book was found in April on the Headrow in Leeds.
