MP3 players have taken half of America's teens by storm with 54% of the country's youngsters owning at least one portable music player.
When surveyed, more than half of the teenagers in America own an MP3 player and 6% of these claim to own more than one. This has leaped from last year's ownership levels of just 15%. It was also found that almost twice as many men own MP3 players as women.
Headphone sales were found to have reached an ear-bursting $4.23 billion in 2005, according to the Consumer Electronics Association.
The vice-president of of Ispos insight, Matt Kleinschmit, said "What is perhaps most interesting about this is that experienceed pertable device owners are now buying new players with a level of usage and storage capacity knowledge unseen just a few years ago."
