59 year-old American becomes the oldest woman to deliver twin
It is believed that a 59-year-old woman has recently become the oldest woman in the world to give birth to twins.
Lauren Cohen gave birth to her husband, Frank Garcia's babies, Giselle and Gregory by Caesararian section successfully despite complications that threatened the lives of both mother and children alike.
"I'm happy" proclaimed a rosey-cheeked Cohen.
A severe tragedy was averted when Ms Cohen was admitted to hospital with the pre-birth disorders, placenta pervia, a disorder caused when the placenta becomes lodged against the cervix, and placentra percreta, in which the placenta begins to devlop through the uterus. Having lost 33 pints of blood, Ms Cohen was in a critical condition with several doctors striving valiantly to retain what lifesigns they could of both the mother and children and eventually, after hours of gruelling surgery, the three patients emerged healthy, their ordeal long over.
"Miracle," whispered Mr Garcia, his welling eyes pointed to the heavens, "It was one of my dreams to have baby twins. It's a miracle."
