Foiled computer heist sends seven men to jail
A group of men who spent months planning a multi million pound robbery on a computer company have been jailed
The seven men arrested last December appeared at Harrow Crown Court yesterday to face trial of conspiracy to commit burglary and perverting the court of justice.
David Thomas, aged 37, and ringleader of the London based gang pleaded gulity to trying to bribe a police officer and was sentenced to nine an a half years, 7 of those for conspircay to rob and two and a half for perverting the court of justice.
On Christmas Eve the gang drove to the warhouse they were intending to rob in two stolen cars and two vans. They had armed themselves with ammonia, heavy duty tape and handcuffs.
Their transportation would have allowed them to get away with approximately £4.5 million of the £26 million worth of merchandise at the computer warehouse.
