Japan's Beatles Hotel Opens Its Doors To The Public
Wide-ranging series of events marks the 40th anniversary of the group's first performance in Japan.
The impressive Tokyo Hilton (now called the Capitol Tokyu Hotel) was where The Beatles stayed for a number of concerts which they played in Tokyo in 1966.  The suite where the group resided is now being opened up for fans to view, and hotel manager Micheal Miyauchi said that "we have done our best to restore the presidential suite to how it looked when The Beatles stayed."
The Beatles prompted a style revolution throughout Japan when they arrived with a bang in 1966 - as fan Keiko Iwai comments, "They exuded a new approach that we Japanese had never experienced before."  Many young Japanese men tried to style themselves after the group, imitating their hairstyle and fashion sense, and many young Japanese girls idolised the Fab Four, purchasing posters and joining fan clubs.
A host of other events are also taking place throughout the country, as many believe that the '66 arrival of The Beatles prompted the biggest style revolution known in modern Japan, and the influence of the four Liverpudlian lads can still be felt throughout Japanese culture today.
