Tories To Give Married Couples A Break.
A new conservative proposal could see married couples having a £20 per week tax break, a policy report unveiled today.
The new proposal is just part of a range of sweeping changes to tax and to the benefits system.
This new brainchild is part of a 670 page policy report produced by the Conservative party, with recommendations from 'Breakdown Britain', headed by former conservative frontman Iain Duncan Smith.
Smith said the proposal would overhaul the tax system to recognise the "benefits which marriage brings to society."
Under the proposal, married couples would get a tax and benefits boost.
Estimated to be worth up to £3000 per year, with some families receiving higher benefits of up to £32 per week, the insentive behind the scheme is to bring married couples with children in line with single parent families.
Although this scheme will cost around £6 billion, critics are left pondering whether this proposal will be met by welfare tightening rules.
Other proposals include a rise in tax on alcohol to combat Britain's binge-drinking blunders, for failing state schools to be run by charities and parents, and also the on going debate of raising Cannabis to a class B drug.
