Hot Wheels Hamilton speeds up the road to success!
The ambitious Formula One rookie has the potential to win his debut year.
"This is something I've wanted to do since..I can only imagine I was six when I saw Ayrton Senna racing for McLaren, and I sort of said I'd love to do that," recalled Hamilton, the 22 year old Formula One rookie, who is currently proving to be another role model for realising your childhood dreams.
During the British Grand Prix this weekend, as crowds gathered to reach a sell-out 85,000 spectators, Hamilton was mobbed and hailed by the thousands of fans, as his unbelievable run of nine successive podiums in his first year means that he has a twelve point lead to his McLaren team-mate, Fernando Alonso, which could have added to his ego along with one of his team bosses, Sir Frank Williams describing him as "superhuman", although he appears to be struggling to cope with such a speedy rise to stardom; "It is still a very difficult experience to get used to - I don't believe I have got used to it," admitted Hamilton. "As for the good things I hear from people like Sir Frank Williams, and all the people in the Formula One world, it's overwhelming."
However, after making mistakes this weekend at Silverstone, and conceding to third place, behind Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen and team-mate Fernando Alonso, Ferrari now have a winning edge against the McLaren team, although Martin Whitmarsh, the team's chief operating officer has promised a quicker car to the team members for the Grand Prix of Europe at the Nurburgring in two weeks' time; "We've a lot of work to do," he insists. "We can see how we're going to improve the package - and we will do it. We aprecciate Lewis and Fernando are immensely competitive, and they want all parts of the team to raise their game. I have every reason to believe we will be strong in the next few races."
Although, he confirms that his only goal for this year "is simply to do a solid job for McLaren, three months after the confirmation that he was a rising star within Formula One, including a 165mph smash in testing at Valencia in January, the rookie has even outpaced his more experienced team-mate and reigning double world champion, proving that he could potentially win his maiden Formula One year. "It's important to understand how tough a challenge it's going to be," he stated. "I'm sure there will be mistakes, but you have to make mistakes to learn and become a better driver." This clear focus and determination only persuades you to genuinely believe him when he claims "I know how to become the best. I just need time."
