After the death of 22 year-old Corporal Christopher Read the number of British Military casualties has been raised to 159. This is the total number since the war in Iraq began.
Corporal Christopher Read, 22, from the 158 Provost Company, 3rd Regiment Royal Military Police sadly died on Saturday. The soldier, originally from Poole, Dorset, was shot whilst returning from a military operation in Basra City.
After the shooting the injured Corporal given first aid treatment; before being taken to the British base at Basra air station. Corporal Christopher Read died as a result of being shot raising the toll to 159. This toll is the total of British Military casualties since the hostilities began in Iraq.
