Tory's say 'Till death do us pay'
Under a new Tory strategy to avoid family breakdown married couples could recieve tax and benefit boosts worth thousands of pounds a year.
Today, as the first major policy under the 'Social Justice Policy Review' the Conservative Party talked of their plans to reward married couples with £20 a week tax-breaks. Cameron is hoping to rework the tax system in favour of married couples as one of almost two hundred new measures to avoid family breakdown. The plan would particularly benefit couples where only one half is earning. The policy will also recognise the importance of marriage, financially to society as a whole. Iain Duncan Smith said "I believe that this is the single most important step that the Conservative Party could take to start supporting stable family life." The report that led to the creation of this policy claims that the number of children with two working parents in poverty will increase from 1.4 million to 1.8 million by the end of the decade. Various other measures are to be inplaced by the Tory Party, under the policy to improve social reform.
