Liverpool have placed a £13.5m bid for Ajax winger Ryan Babel. The Dutch 20 year old has played a large part in the Dutch National team that has recently won the European under 21 Championship, and interest from a major league team has been expected.

Babel would join new signing Fernando Torres in Liverpool's recent transfer frenzy securing big name stars after Craig Bellamy and Luis Garcia left the club. Liverpool will most likely use this as an opportunity to gain a stronger foothold in the Premier League and Champions League after an uncuccesful season.
