Jury Woman conceals Music player in Hijab during murder trial
Jury Woman arrested in court after MP3 player headphones found concealed within her Hijab during a murder trial
20 year old Runela Khanom was discovered to be concealing an MP3 player device within her headscarf, while giving evidence in the witness box during a murder trial. A fellow juror spotted wires coming out of her hijab and alerted the court.
Khanom had origonally asked for the trial to be postponed whilst she completed a nursing course, however this was denied after it came to their attention that the course was applicable online, and therefore of little importance.
Khanom was known for her lack of punctuality, and had been told regularly to come 15 minutes early by the court.
Other members of the jury shared the suspicion that she doodled instead of reading important evience being passed around the court room.
She was found to be listening to the player during the trial of Alan Wicks, a former businessmen, for the murder of his wife. Alan Wicks was then found to be guilty.
Runela Khanom now faces charges of contempt, and possibly time in prison.
