Deeply Broken
A 12 year old boy was in a freak accident but survived maraculously. Chris Stewart age 11 suffered internal Decapitation where his skull was severed from his neck.
Chris Stewart aged 11, now 12, was racing a car when his mini ploughed into a metal barrier on the 24th of september. But the 50mph impact caused his skull to be severed from his neck. This should of instantly killed him but he maraculously survived. The race took place in Tongham Motor club near Alton in Hampshire. Both of his parents was in the crowd watching their little boy crash into the barrier.


Chris was rushed to Southhampton Hospital when he reached the hospital, they found out that Chris's tongue was detached at the root so this caused him much diffcultly eating, drinking and talking. The doctors where very suprised that Chris did not died. They say that when you break your neck you should instantly die. But now this fact has been proven wrong.


Mr Stewart didn't know how badly hurt his son was. But Mr Stewart realised when the paramedics put him in the ambulance and rushed him to the hospital with a police escourt. Chris spent 19 days in intensive care while his parents Mr and Mrs Stewart aged 40 and 42 worried relentlessly. Chris went under the knife for 6 hours.


Chris made a magical recovery.His doctors and nurses expected him to be walking again in the next year, but being Chris, he proved them wrong again by begining to walk 3 weeks later. Now Chris can swim, walk and even exercise. Chris will be spending christmas at home with both of his parents and is expected to make a full recovery very soon. Although he will not be expected to go back on the track anytime soon.
