Cannabis cooking grandmother walks free
Patricia Tabram, a 66 year old grandmother from Northumberland, walks free after police arrest her for possessing 31 cannabis plants in her bungalow loft.

Patricia Tabram, 66, from Hexam in Northumberland was last year arrested after police raided her house following a tip off from neighbors about savory smells. When the police raided Mrs Tabram's house they found at least 31 cannabis plants in her loft as well as individual portions in her bedroom and kitchen.

Ms Tabram was first introduced to the class c drug last year, after eating at a friends house, only later to be followed by a goodnights sleep. Ms Tabram later confronted her friend about it, only to be told the food was laced with cannabis.
When questioned by the authorities, Tabram claimed that the class c drug helped her get through intense pain in her neck and back. Tabram also said: " I had a walking stick, I was in constant pain. Now through ingesting cannabis in my food five times a day, five times a week, minute amounts, I feel great."

On Friday 8th April 2005, Patricia Tabram appeared at Newcastle Crown Court where she was given a two year suspension, however it could have easily been a lengthy prison sentence. The judge ruled against a prison sentence because he decided not to make Ms Tabram a Martyr, which is apparently what she was after.

Even after warnings from the judge, Tabram's Solicitor said that she is likely to re-offend, only because it helps relieve so much of her pain, however she did promise that she would no longer supply her friends with the illegal drug.

Ms Tabram does in fact wish to publish her new book of cannabis laced recipes which is called "Grandma Eats Cannabis". There are thought to new and improved recipes for cookies, soups and casseroles!
