The triumphant returns home!
Flintoff returns home to see his son for the first time.
Freddie Flintoff is on his return home from the crucial test match in India this Thursday to see his son for the very first time. The 28 year old was asked to step into Michael Vaughn's role as captain for the England Cricket team as Vaughn suffered an unexpected injury. Since being asked to take on the role of captaincy, his wife Rachael gave birth to his second child, Corey. He was due to arrive home prior to the birth, but with his wife's blessing he remained in Mumbai and accepted the offer of leading his country in a typically exciting and tense English cricket match against the infamous Indian side. England trounced India by 212 runs beating all odds and levelled the series. He stated " Of course winning makes it all feel worthwhile, also you might not get the chance to captain your country again, so it was something i enjoyed and i'm glad i did it." When asked if the role of captaincy was for him he replied "When Vaughnie comes back he is captain and it is very much Vaughnie's side, myself and the lads are looking forward to his return."
Flintoff's whirlwind visit will be important for him to spend vital time with the new member of his family, 2 week old son Corey and his daughter Holly before setting off for more intense training and hopefully leading to more success in his cricket career.
