Commonwealth Crisis
A 3-0 victory for Australia over England at the Commonwealth games in Melbourne.
England's hopes to play India in the women's hockey final were shattered when they were defeated in the semi-final of the Commonwealth games.
England started the game well but after 28 minutes fell behind when Kate Hollywood, of the determined Australian team, scored, making the score 1-0. After the break, Emily Halliday hit the jackpot from a short corner making the score 2-0. England pulled out all the stops but were devastated when Suzi Faulkner got the final goal of the match with just seconds to spare.
England will now turn their hopes to bronze medal play-off where they will play New Zealand. "We've worked so hard and had so much support we are not going to return home empty handed," said the English team.
Australia will now be playing India in the final and will recieve a gold or siver medal.
Scotland beat Malaysia 3-0 and came 5th altogether.
